Sick Patient Rejected By The Ambulance Of Sara District Hospital In Iloilo For Not Having Money
An ambulance of Sara District Hospital in Iloilo allegedly refused to accept a 5-year-old patient urinating blood for not having money.
The ambulance is a vehicle for transportation, which is commonly used for emergency medical services to administer first aid. This vehicle was tasked to transport sick or injured people from their location going to the nearest treatment center or hospital.
The personnel of this medical vehicle was tasked to take care of the patients while heading to the hospital. They were also assigned to apply first aid and emergency care for their patients. Negligence of duty has corresponding sanctions and penalties.
The official Facebook page of Rmn Iloilo has shared a story of a 5-year-old patient who was already urinating blood, but the ambulance of Sara District Hospital still refused to accept the patient for having no money to pay for its transportation bills.
In the post, it is written that the staff of the ambulance has rejected the 5-year-old kid and give unjustified reason to its family. The patient was already urinating blood and in need of immediate medication, but the medical personnel still did not consider the kid’s condition.
Governor Arthur Defensor reminds the medical staff and personnel that the usage of hospital ambulance is free of charge for the less-fortunate patients of the province.
Dr. Raul Banias, Iloilo Provincial Administrator, and Hospital Management Head said in a statement that in the case of emergency, the patients should not charge before treatment, according to the Local Revenue Code.
Defensor also gave consideration to the poor family who cannot afford to pay the transportation. He ordered that the usage of the ambulance should be free of charge for the poor. However, middle class and rich people could still be charged transportation fee, but official receipt should be issued.
