Mayweather Owes $22.2-M Worth Of Tax For Pacquiao Fight, IRS Says

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) said that Floyd Mayweather owes about $22.2 million worth of tax for his fight against Manny Pacquiao.

IRS filed a notice a federal tax lien showing the undefeated boxer nicknamed “Money” owes $22.2 million in taxes since 2015. The unpaid balance of the culprit was show last March 06, 2017. The country officials in Las Vegas filed the lien last April 2017.

The undefeated boxer defended himself stating that the IRS just only wanted to be part of the “Money May.” He also said that he has been notified earlier if he has any real discrepancies on tax.

“While everyone is counting my money and assuming the worst, these are the facts… Uncle Sam, received $26,000,000.00 from me in 2015! What else could they possibly want? I’m sure I would have been notified much sooner if there were any real discrepancies right?” said by Mayweather quoted by Philstar.

Mayweather also explained that he was taking care of his taxes and said that he even show his $100 million worth of check, which he didn’t even cash on stage. The undefeated boxer was referring to the check from his fight against Pacman.

The issue against the 40-year-old Mayweather after he announced that he will end his retirement to face the Irish MMA star Conor McGregor in a boxing match on August 2017, which will be held at T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas.

The two fighters could earn a large amount of cash on their upcoming mega fight, but it would not be $200 million like the Pacquiao-Mayweather match. It was still unclear whether IRS was trying to withhold Mayweather’s match against McGregor. Nevada boxing regulators did not also give any request for comment.

The tax filed by the IRS against Mayweather in 2015 was the latest over the past decades.
