Financial Assistance For Leyte Quake Victims Promised By Malacañang
Malacañang Palace has promised of financial assistance for the victims of the devastating magnitude 6.5 earthquake that struck Leyte.
On Thursday (July 06, 2017), the province of Leyte has been struck by a powerful tremor, which took the lives of 2 people, injured more than 100 people, and severely damage some buildings and establishments in the area.
The magnitude 6.5 quake struck Leyte around 04:03 pm with an epicenter of 11.11 North, 124.84 of East, and 44 West of Tacloban and its depth has a total measure of 50 kilometers.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has dismissed the possibility of a tsunami, but it warns the public to be prepared for the possible aftershocks and further damage is expected.
On Friday (July 07, 2017), Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella promised to provide all of their available resources for the victims of the devastating quake in Leyte after almost 300 aftershocks were recorded following the powerful quake.
“Again, we stand with the people of Leyte. We condole with those who have lost their loved ones and we continue to stand with those who have loved ones who have been hurt,” said by Abella quoted by Inquirer.
Abella calls for the resilient spirit of the Filipinos to close ranks against altercation and other hindrances in sending help for the Leyte quake victims. He also told the quake victims that we will rise again.
