According to the news report released by the Inquirer, the warning from the immigration chief is a strong reminder to the personnel to keep the grounds of the international airport off-limits from any unauthorized persons.

Accordingly, he clearly stated that authorized persons are allowed to enter the premises to which at such are employees on duty and those who have travel orders.

He even ordered the employees of the BI to “desist from escorting or facilitating arriving and departing passengers” personally.

Upon the orders, Marc Red Mariñas, acting chief of the BI’s port operations division, have disseminated the information to all the employees and failure to follow the order will face “stiff sanction”.

Morente reiterated the policy upon learning that there were two well-known personalities have been escorted by a retired police officer to the counters of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) after arriving from Bangkok last Sunday.

The retired police officer and the two personalities were not named yet but they were thinking that it was Gretchen Barretto and businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang and together with them is the retired SPO4 Ciriaco Peralta.

Based on Mariñas, Peralta approached an officer on duty of the Border Control and Intelligence Unit and informed that “he would be assisting Mr. Ang who arrived with movie personality Gretchen Barretto and company but then it was not stated why they have to be escorted.

Thus, Morente will demand an investigation about the incident from the Naia general manager Ed Monreal in order to “take appropriate action to prevent its recurrence in the future.
