Military Captured Maute Member Transporting Ammunition To Marawi City
The member of Maute Terror Group believed to be transporting their ammunition in Marawi City got arrested by the militaries.
On Tuesday (June 27, 2017), Task Force Marawi spokesman Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera announced that a suspected Maute group member who has an alleged vital role in the group has been already arrested by the soldiers with a boat.
Herrera also that this Maute member was transporting ammunition supply to the terrorist group and believed to be the one transporting their injured members from the conflict zone to south of Lake Lanao.
“Kahapon meron tayong na-capture na isang tao with a bangka… We found out that this captured Maute is the one facilitating the entry of ammunition. Ito rin yung taong nagdadala ng mga wounded galing sa main battle area papunta sa south ng Lanao Lake,” said by Herrera quoted by GMA.
The arrest of the suspected member of Maute Terror Group was a big breakthrough because it blocks the ammo supply of the terrorist group and the military was able to establish a better defense around the lake to prevent militant from escaping through their route in Lanao, according to Herrera.
The clash between the government forces and the Maute Group in Marawi City, which started on May 23, 2017 entered its sixth week on Tuesday. Around 70 soldiers and 27 civilians have been already killed by the terrorist, who also lost about 290 members.
