For the first time, Helen Gamboa, the wife of Senator Tito Sotto issued a statement with regards to the controversial “na-ano lang” remark of her husband.
Last month, Tito Sotto was heavily criticized over his “na-ano lang” remark to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Judy Taguiwalo regarding her status as a single mother.
The 68-year-old actor-politician twitted the secretary for having two daughters out of wedlock.
The senator raised the status of the secretary during her confirmation hearing before the Commission on Appointments on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
The Eat Bulaga host did not only gained the netizen’s ire but also the displeasure of popular celebrities including Vice Ganda, Gretchen Ho, Claudine Barretto and to name a few.
Tito Sotto claimed in a statement that his “na-ano lang” remark is actually referred to the street terminology for the single parents.
He has already released his apology. However, many were offended by his comment.
Meanwhile, here’s the reaction of Helen Gamboa regarding the controversial remark in an interview with PEP.ph.
“Kapag ganoon, hindi ko na binibigyan ng time talaga. Kasi ako lang ang magsa-suffer, ako ang masasaktan. Saka I should know my husband better than anybody.
“Kaya I’m so thankful to God na ganito ang pagsasama namin. We always have peace and harmony in our house. Parang nasanay na rin ako na, pag sa showbiz, parang maraming naninira, maraming naiinggit.”
She also gave assurance to the public that she’s better now after she got sick in time of “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real,” a primetime series of GMA Network in 2014 starring Maricel Soriano, Dingdong Dantes, and Lovi Poe.
