Bohol Mayor Gisela Boniel’s Murder Revealed, Husband And Other Suspect Arrested

The story behind the murder of Bien Unido Mayor Gisela Boniel has been revealed, her husband and incumbent Bohol Board Member Niño Rey Boniel was now arrested.

On Wednesday morning (June 07, 2017), the mayor of Bien Unido town in Bohol had gone missing. Gisela Boniel was last found Bien Unido Double Barrier Reef Dive Camp in Bohol, the place where they have been captured, according to Angela Leyson, Gisela’s best friend.

On Thursday (June 08, 2017), POLICE Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas Director Noli Taliño confirmed Gisela’s death. He said in a press conference that the Bien Unido mayor was killed and dumped into the sea.

The authorities conducted a search operation through the waters off Caubian Island in Lapu-Lapu City where the body of Gisela was allegedly dumped.

Gisela’s body was allegedly shot and reportedly bound by a fishnet weighing about 30 kilograms before her corpse were thrown into the water. The real gunman was not yet identified, but the authorities were still investigating for additional details and information.

“Accordingly, from Bien Unido, bineyahe at sinakay sa bangka, and then accordingly, binaril at tinapon sa dagat, but as to who is the real gunman, ay hindi pa klaro hanggang ngayon. Malalaman natin sa follow-up investigation na ginagawa natin ngayon,” said by Taliño.

The mayor’s husband who’s also a Bohol Board Member Niño Rey Boniel, driver Randel Lopas, and Niño cousin Kevin and Reolita “Etad” Boniel were arrested by the authorities over alleged involvement in the murder.

Gisela Boniela is a mother of a 4-year-old son, mayor of Bien Unido, and a licensed pilot of AirAsia with a rank of a captain. She earned national commendation for outstanding airmanship last Feb 28, 2016.
