BAYOT – The story of ‘Bayot’ broke a lot of hearts for his heroic act and valor in his act to somehow save the Marawi people from terror in the hands of the extremists and surely, his heroism will leave a mark in the history of the siege.

The ill-fated and heart-breaking story of a soldier in Marawi was shared by the Facebook page The Sibugay Express (SibEx).

“Bombahin na lang ninyo ang location  ko Sir!” (Just bomb my location Sir!)

Those exactly were the words of the 24-year-old hero Private First Class Dhan Ryan Bayot before he got killed.

The team of Bayot has nine soldiers from the 51st Infantry Batallion.

His group was assigned in a detachment on the second day of the siege at the Barangay Lilod. They were situated there as per the request of the town mayor for his residence was also there.

But unfortunately, the house of the mayor was already taken by the militants and no one knows how.

According to a survivor, they were fired with gun shots at all direction and not long enough, five from his comrades got killed by the rain of bullets.

Three of his soldiers was able to get away but the one eventually died and the other two have been hurt and injured.

Left alone in the place surrounded by the militants, he smelt death than rescue. Fueled with such presence of mind, he said to his commander, “Bombahin na lang ninyo ang location  ko Sir!”

With that, the militants will also get hit by the bombs.

His father, Sgt. Larry Bayot, of the Division Reconnaissance Company from the 1st Infantry Division, was one of those who retrieved his dead body together with his other five dead companions, four days after the incident.

And that is when they have found out his son’s death is not by a bullet. His face was deformed and he got a deep slash in the neck, at such, was a barbarous end.

“To a soldier , it’s always a ‘do-or-die but never-question-why’ attitude.”
