“Kobe Is All Yours,” Benjie Paras Told CSUN Coach

The Filipino basketball legend and actor Benjie Paras has told California State University Northridge (CSUN) coach Reggie Theus that “Kobe Is All Yours”.

On Wednesday (May 31, 2017), Benjie Paras can’t contain his joy and being proud of his son Kobe Paras as he was formally introduced as the newest member of Matadors in California State University Northridge.

Reggie Theus has welcomed Kobe Paras together with Benjie and his other family members at the Matadome. Kobe transferred to CSUN after spending one year at Creighton University after he saw limited minutes in Bluejays and playing only 15 out of 35 games.

Benjie Paras became emotional in expressing his gratitude towards CSUN staff and Matador’s coach Theus for giving Kobe the chance to play for them. He also mentioned that he is proud of Kobe not only for following his footsteps but also for what he becomes right now.

“What really makes me prouder is when coaches like Reggie Theus, a legend in the NBA and in college, wants him to play for you” and “All I can say is that he’s all yours. I will not interfere in anything,” said by Benjie quoted by ABS-CBN.

Matador’s coach Reggie Theus also joke around by asking Benjie if Kobe could now beat him in a one-on-one match. ‘Papa Bear’ answered that Kobe is much better than him and also joked that he only looks better than his son.

Paras also explained that he was always reminding his son on his billing as a student-athlete. He also told Kobe to also do well in his academics. The younger Paras will sit out the upcoming NCAA season.
