Magnitude 5.4 Earthquake Hits Parts Of Luzon, Phivolcs Says

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) announced that a magnitude 5.4 earthquake hits parts of Luzon.

On Thursday (May 25, 2017), a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck 12-kilometer northeast San Marcelino in Zampales around 10:27 p.m. The volcanology agency said that the powerful tremor was recorded at a depth of 88km.

Some parts of Luzon including Metro Manila, Cavite, Pampanga, Benguet, Bataan, and Bulacan felt a magnitude 5.5 quake, according to Phivolcs. In Makati City, the powerful quake lasts for at least 6 seconds.

  • Quezon City in Metro Manila
  • Malolos in Bulacan

Intensity III

  • Makati
  • Mandaluyong
  • Pasay
  • Parañaque
  • Manila in Metro Manila
  • San Juan del Monte and Marilao in Bulacan
  • Tagaytay City in Cavite
  • Talisay and Batangas City in Batangas.

Intensity II

  • Bacoor in Cavite
  • San Jacinto in Pangasinan
  • Magnitude 5.4 Earthquake

Simborio also explained that there was no tsunami alert announced but numerous aftershocks in the area are expected. As of this writings, there are no damage or injuries reported.
