Duterte About Martial Law: “It will not be any different from what the Pres. Marcos did.”

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte says before flying to Manila that the Martial Law will not be different from what President Marcos did.

MARTIAL LAW – The president of the Republic of the Philippines had just recently declared a Martial Law in Mindanao and it will not be different from the time of the late President Ferdinand Marcos for he will also be harsh.

According to the news report of Rappler, before the president will fly back to Manila he said early morning of Wednesday though a live video on Facebook, Martial law is martial law ha. It will not be any different from what the President, Marcos did. I’d be harsh.”

It was through the live video post of the appointed Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson and was during  he was boarding the presidential plane to Manila.

The president even added, “”I was asked how I would deal with terrorism. I said I’d be harsh. I told everyone, ‘do not force my hand into it.”

And when asked if  how long the Martial Law would take he just answered that even if it would take a year for it to be resolved then so be it but if it will just take a month then he would be so happy.

However, the Constitution says that the  time  frame should only take at least 60 days and if  it exceeds,  approval of the Congress is needed.

The declaration of the Martial law has been lifted because of the attack of the Maute Group in Marawi  Cityin Mindanao and has took effect 10:00 P.M . of May 23 in the entire island  of Mindanao as announced by the president through Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella.

The spokesman even said, “This is possible on the grounds of existence of rebellion because of what is happening in Mindanao.”

Duterte is the 3rd Philippine president to declare martial law since 1972.

First was the late President Ferdinand Marcos which marked the history of abuse and violence during that era and the second to declare was  Lgoria Macapagal-Arroyo due to the massacre of 58 people, mostly media, in  Ampatuan.
