Ex-DENR Sec. Lopez Issues Challenge To DOF Chief Dominguez, Find Out What Is It

Former DENR Sec. Gina Lopez challenges DOF Chief Carlos Dominguez to prove that mining can help the people.

LOPEZ – Former Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Gina Lopez has issued a challenge to the Chief of the Department of Finance, Carlos Dominguez.

Despite the rejection of the appointment of Lopez as the environment secretary by the panel of Commission on Appointments (CA), the former DENR secretary continues to be vocal in protecting the environment.

Based on a recent report in ABS-CBN News, the former environment Secretary reacted on the speech of DOF Chief Carlos Dominguez on a forum. Lopez challenged him to prove how mining can benefit the people.

“Prove it Sonny Dominguez prove it! Face the numbers and prove it!” the ex-DENR Secretary lashed out to the DOF Chief.

Moreover, based on the report, Lopez also told the mining firms to go away as they are not wanted in the country. She stressed to the firms invited by the DOF Chief that they are not needed in the country.

On the side of the DOF Chief, he said that those who are not in favor of mining in the country should “change the law”.

Based on the news report, Brooke’s Point, Palawan Mayor Jean Feliciano sought the help of former environment Sec. Lopez after trees were allegedly cut without permits.

The action allegedly happened two days after the appointment of the former environment Secretary was rejected.  The Palawan Mayor will lodge a complaint to the new environment Secretary regarding the issue.

Based on a previous news report, lots of people were really saddened by the rejection of the appointment of Gina as the environment secretary.

Including those who expressed their reaction were presidential sister Jocellyn Duterte-Villarica and the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC).

Meanwhile, the presidential sister pointed out that the ideals of Gina may not really work in politics.
