DSWD Starts To Distribute Free Medicine
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already started to distribute the free medicine for public aside from free medical assistance.
Marlene Guzman, OIC of Crisis Intervention Unit, DSWD-NCR said that the free medicine for the public was from the P1 billion special project fund allocated by President Rodrigo Duterte for the selected hospitals providing a free medical assistance for their patients.
According to some reports, there are about 5000 people who already avail the special project from the P1 billion fund or known as Lingap program by the local government. As of May 2017, P971 million was the remaining amount left for the incoming patients who wants to get free medicines.
Currently, there are only 6 hospitals covered by Lingap including Philippine General Hospital in Manila, Jose B. Lingad Memorial Hospital in Pampanga, Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City, Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City, and Davao Regional Hospital in Tagum City.
Applicants who wanted to avail the government’s special project needs to submit a valid ID, proof of indigency, barangay clearance, medical social service certificate, doctor’s prescription, and written authorization letter from a registered patient when another person is hereby to claim the medicine.
