Rock Dela Rosa, the son of PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa enters the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) among with new cadets.

On Monday (May 01, 2017), the 22-year-old son of the PNP chief has already joined the 350 young men and women as the new cadets of PNPA. The academy has welcome the new members of the Class of 2021.

3 bureaus under the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), PNPA, and officials of the Philippine Public Safety College have collaborated to gather around 350 cadets as they started the 4 years of education and training in the academy.

The only son of the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa was among over 22, 000 aspiring police, who luckily enters the academy among with 350 cadets after passing the PNPA Cadet Admission Test last 2016.

The young Dela Rosa is a graduate of the BS. In Business Administration at the Philippine Women’s College, but he realized that becoming a policeman is his true passion.  He also explained that his father did not force him to do so, but growing up in a family of public servants in one of his major reason to enter PNPA.

Last March, the PNP chief looks emotional and admitted he was nervous over son’s decision to enter the academy, but still, he expressed his support towards his son.

Ako, anak ako ng tricycle driver kaya no retreat, no surrender ako. Papasok [ako] doon – kahit na babagsakan mo ako ng shot put sa tiyan ko, hindi ako uuwi ng Davao. Pero siya, anak siya ng chief PNP kaya iba na rin ‘yung psychological kuwan niya. Medyo kuwan lang ako, apprehensive, but anyway, pabayaan ko siya kung ano gusto niya sa buhay,”said by the PNP chief.

Rock seems to have no problem regarding the initiation for new cadets and considered as tough love from their seniors in the academy. The PNPA cl(–foul word(s) removed–) will start in June, then the new cadets will be learning the traditions and drills of PNPA.
