DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Duterte arrives at Doha, the capital city of the State of Qatar. As a welcome for the president, Philippine flags were put across the city.
According to the report of Qatar Day, the flags of the Philippines were put to places like Corniche Area, road to Hamad International Airport, and in other intersections and roads.
As mentioned in the report, the president and the Filipinos who were there will have a meeting that will take place at the Lusail Sports Arena on April 15 from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Based on a recent news report in Rappler, the president’s land to Doha is his 3rd state visit in a Middle Eastern Country.
When Duterte arrived in Doha on Friday at 8:50 P.M. (Doha time), he was welcomed by Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Qatar’s minister of energy and industry, and the Qatar’s airport chief of protocol, Abdullah Bin Ali Alsaleti.
Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Alan Timbayan, during his interview with the press said, ” President Duterte is expected to further boost employment opportunities forFilipinos – workers and professionals – who are are here to seek greener pastures.”
Timbayan also added that Duterte will have to meet Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Qatar’s head of state and head of the government on Sunday, April 16.
President Duterte will also be present at the signing of agreement “in the fields of health, culture, technical vocational education and training.”
The president’s visit at the Doha, Qatar will be his last destination in his Middle East Trip.
Previous places that were visited by the president are Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. To where both he signed agreements that will help the Overseas Filipino Workers or the OFW’s.
Duterte met around 2000 OFW’s in Saudi Arabia and 4000 in Bahrain.
