Senen Dueñas, Former UST Asssistant Coach, Died At 52

Senen Dueñas, the former assistant coach of UST passed away at 52 due to some complications after his chest surgery.

Dueñas is the former assistant coach of Pido Jarencio of UST Growling Tigers Basketball Men’s Divison during his stay at the University of Sto. Tomas.

As reported by the Inquirer Net, he served the Growling Tigers since 2006 until 2015.

During his time as a student, it was mentioned in the report that he is also a varsity of the UST but not in the basketball team. He belongs to the UST’s Golden Booters, the men’s football team in the 1980’s.

Based on another report about his death in the The Varsitarian, he died at 6:20 A.M. at De Los Santos Medical Center in Quezon City.

He was also tagged as the “Drill Master”. Dueñas, being the with UST’s basketball team is also the drill coach. He helped the Tigers hit the championship in the UAAP on 2006.

Furthermore, he was also there when the Tigers was able to make appearances  at the finals in UAAP during 2012,2013 and 2015.

He became a part of the basketball team’s coaching with the persuasion of the former head coach of the Tigers, Coach Pido Jarencio.

Also stated, he got a spot to be a part of the coaching staff of the Globalport Batang Pier in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Surely, the basketball team is saddened for the loss of one of the coaches who have helped them grow in their chosen sports – basketball.

Most especially the family he has left behind has been in an immeasurable pain for the death of Senen Dueñas, a coach, a father, and a husband.
