Cebu Named As 2nd World’s Friendliest Island

Cebu was recognized by a New York City-based travel magazine and Travel + Leisure (T+L) as the second friendliest island in the world next to Palawan.

Cebu is a 1st provincial income class island province in the Philippines that can be found in the Central Visayas. It has been also ones become the country’s first capital before Manila and it is the oldest city.

Palawan took the 1st place for the world’s friendliest island, while Cebu has secured the second spot. Luzon gets the third place, while the fourth place was taken by Boracay.

“While the politics of the nation have grown ever-more volatile, the people of the islands remain friendly to visitors exploring their scenic home. For many travelers, it’s especially helpful that English is one of the official languages of the Philippines, and those islanders are so welcoming of tourists,” wrote by Jess McHugh of T+L in an article published last April 01, 2017.

The magazine also described the province as a “former Spanish colony,” because people keeps on visiting the remaining architecture during that Spanish period.

T+L also said that one of the island’s greatest quality was the helpful locals of Cebu. The respondents of its 2016 World’s Best Awards survey were asked to rate their journey in traveling across the world and evaluating the cities, hotels, airports, and resorts they have been.
