Shiryl Saturnino died after cosmetic surgery procedures.

SHIRYL SATURNINO – The police will not file charges against the doctors and nurses of the Icon Clinic who performed the cosmetic surgery procedures to the 29-year-old businesswoman Shiryl Saturnino using the autopsy result.

Based on a recent news report in Phil Star Global, the director of the Eastern Police District, Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, expressed that they would wait for the pathology examination’s result as it is “more conclusive”.

The said pathology examination was conducted on Saturnino by the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory.

According to the report, the Eastern Police District Director expressed that the medical staff who performed the surgery will face cases of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide if it will be proven that negligence is the cause of the death of the 29-year-old businesswoman.

The medical staff includes: anesthesiologist Dr. Jose Jovito Cordero Mendiola, Dr. Samuel Eric Calderon Yapjuangco, and nurses  Alvin Carl Genove,  Audrey Michelle Santos, and Virgil Alec Ongleo.

“We want to file an airtight case to give justice to the victim and her family,” Sapitula expressed based on the report.

The 29-year-old businesswoman reportedly died after three cosmetic surgery procedures were conducted on her – liposuction, breast, and butt surgeries.

Based on a previous news report, the autopsy of Saturnino revealed that ‘multiple organ failure secondary to complications of cosmetic surgical procedures’ is the cause of her death.

The Special Investigation Task Group Shiryl has already agreed to speed up the releasing of the result of the histopathology exam.

According to the report, the SITG Shiryl handles important files such as the Professional Regulation Commission I.D’s of the medical personnel who conducted the cosmetic surgery procedures, Saturnino’s the medical records, and the letter of consent signed by Saturnino before the procedures were conducted.

According to P/Sr. Supt. Marcelino Pedrozo, commander of the SITG Shiryl, the charge that they are planning to file against the medical staff is reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

“That will lead to the reprimand, suspension, and revocation of the license of the doctors or the nurses involved,” the SITG Shiryl commander expressed based on the report.

According to the cosmetic clinic, Saturno is already their valued and regular client. The clinic has vowed to be cooperative in the investigation of the death of the 29-year-old businesswoman.
