Filing Impeachment Charges Vs. Robredo Irresponsible, Speculative, Robredo’s Spokesperson Says

VP Leni Robredo’s spokesperson said that filing impeachment charges against Robredo is irresponsible and speculative action.

Georgina Hernandez, Robredo’s spokesperson said House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez was releasing statements without enough evidence and basis. She also said that sharing the impeachment complaint on the public is purely speculative and quite irresponsible for a government official.

Hernandez said that the spokesperson is trying to condition the minds of the public to easily bring down the vice president. She also said that the statements given by Alvarez was just an empty threat and should not be taken seriously.

Impeachment Charges

The possibility of Filing of impeachment complaints against Robredo was still studying by Alvarez. The speaker was accusing the vice president of betraying the public trust for sending her video message to a United Nations forum over illegal drugs.

The message of Robredo together with the international reports over President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs ruined the reputation of the Philippines before the other country, according to Alvarez.

Robredo’s video message contains no constitute betrayal of public trust according to Hernandez. She also said that the statement of the vice president was based on the testimonies of the families who experienced the brutality of the anti-illegal drug campaign.

“All of the statements in the video were based on facts coming from first-hand accounts of families, urban poor families who sought refuge by visiting personally the Office of the Vice President to share their experiences as regard to the various operations happening in relation to the government’s war on drugs,” said by Hernandez quoted by Philstar.

Hernandez said that the posting and sharing of the message online came from the forum organizer’s decision. She also said that Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano cleared Robredo over alleged involvement in his move to impeach the president.
