Romanian Nationals Nabbed By NBI Agents For Alleged LandBank ATM Skimming

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-7) agents nabbed 3 Romanian nationals for alleged skimming the ATM of LandBank of the Philippines.

Most of us entrust our hard-earned cash in the bank account of our own choice. ‘Money’ is one of the most valuable things that we really need to work hard in order to earn it. We thought that keeping it in the bank will be safe than any other storage.

Nowadays, thieves have become more eager, smarter, and using modern technology in order to earn a large amount of cash immediately. Hacking and skimming were only some of the technique used by thieves to rob big amount of money from their victims.

In Mandaue Cebu City, 3 Romanian nationals were caught by the NBI agents for alleged skimming worth thousands of cash from the LandBank of the Philippine, which was owned by the local government.

The Romanian nationals have allegedly victimized more than 50 active clients, law enforcers, and retired government employees through skimming cash on their victim’s bank account. The skimming incident was traced by the authorities in the Landbank of the Philippines Mandaue branch.

The vehicle of the suspects was traced using the captured footage of the bank’s camera. One of the suspects was identified as Lonup Alesandrou, while the name of 2 other suspects will be released sooner or later.

The 2 foreign nationals were invited by NBI 7 to the police headquarters for interrogation. 50 accounts were compromised and 2, 000 accounts were blocked by the LandBank as a part of their security measures.

This skimming incident indicates that we should be careful when it comes to our bank transactions by checking cash balance, being observant, aware of surrounding, keeping confidential information privately, and report any suspicious people around the bank.
