Senator Trillanes backed the claim of SPO3 Lascañas that there are other DDS members who want to testify.
SENATOR TRILLANES – Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV confirmed in a text message the claim of SPO3 Arthur Lascañas that there are other members of the so-called Davao Death Squad who want to testify.
Based on a recent news report in Inquirer, in a text message, Sen. Trillanes said that the other members of the DDS who want to testify are still being examined thoroughly to check their sincerity, their claims, and their readiness to face whatever danger that they may encounter.
According to Sen. Trillanes, the claims of the other DDS members will “corroborate” the claims of Edgar Matobato and SPO3 Lascañas.
Matobato is the self-confessed member of the DDS while SPO3 Lascañas is the self-proclaimed DDS leader.
Based on the news report, when asked if the other members of the DDS who want to testify have something new to reveal, the Senator responded positively. According to him, there are new revelations and they are still validating it.
Reportedly, SPO3 Lascañas recently pinned down Pres. Duterte when he laid his testimony in a media briefing. The retired Davao City police officer said that the then-Mayor of Davao City, Mr. Duterte, has ordered his group to kill radio broadcaster Jun Pala.
According to him, his group was paid for the killing of the broadcaster who angered Mr. Duterte for he always attacks him in his radio station.
Based on a previous news report, SPO3 Lascañas said that he was “forced” to put down the claims of Matobato before as he feared for the safety of his family in Davao City.
The retired cop claimed that he is responsible for lots of deaths following the order of the then-Mayor of the Davao City. According to him, Mr. Duterte has ordered them to kill his political enemies.
Based on the news report, the former Davao City police officer said that they became like “contract killers” who do not only take away take away the lives of people who have committed crimes but as well as those of innocent ones.
In another news update, it is stated that Matobato felt happy after SPO3 Lascañas revealed his claims as it somehow gave weight to his testimony on the alleged existence of the DDS.
He said that he and SPO3 Lascañas were almost like brothers and that the retired police officer is very close to Mr. Duterte. According to him, SPO3 Lascañas has even almost offered his life serving the then-Mayor of Davao City.
