HUMBLE GESTURE – The gesture of Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte towards a female reporter caught the attention of the online community.
Recently, Facebook page Du34s shared an ABS-CBN News report entitled “WATCH: Duterte lends handkerchief to reporter” on its social media page. It cited the content of the news on its caption.
According to the news, Pres. Duterte offered his white handkerchief to a female reporter in the midst of giving answers to certain quests during a ‘chance interview’ which happened outside the Palace. He then told her as he addressed her as ‘Ma’am’ that he has not yet used the handkerchief.
The female reporter asked the President if she can keep it and the President told her that she can return it if she wants to.
“Mayroon din ako dito, nagdi-drip din ako [I also have another here, my nose is also dripping],” added the President as he pulled out some tissue and dabbed it to his nose based on the report.
The social media post has already reached more than a hundred shares and many netizens have expressed their reactions to the post through comments.
One netizen expressed his appreciation to the gesture of the President and pointed out that he remained humble despite his position as shown by his offer to the journalist. The netizen also noted that he gave her respect as he called her ‘Ma’am’.
According to another netizen, the President whom she addressed is “Tatay Digong” is really kind towards anyone. However, the members of the yellow look at him as bad.
“Clean hunky means for a pure news no bias simple but meaningful,” said another netizen.
One Facebook user stated in her comments that although the President always utter a curse, he knows how to show respect unlike “Lolo Jim” who looks decent but does something bad to other people.
Another netizen expressed in her comment her desire to see the President before she will be gone.
“Hay nako tatay..totoong tao ka talaga..i love u po tatay [Tatay you are really a real person.],” stated another Facebook user in her comment.
According to another Facebook user, the President is really a gentleman and he is kind, generous, and has a humble heart and sense of humor.
Undeniably, the humble gesture of Pres. Duterte has really caught the attention of the netizens and gained praises from people.
