Some schools and local government units have suspended cl(–foul word(s) removed–) on Monday, February 27, due to a nationwide transport strike.

Thousands of commuters were stranded. Some of the commuters were forced to walk or ride motorcycles to get to their offices.

Although the strike is set to end the at 4 pm, the effects will be much wider. Services will probably wind down before and then and take a long time after it will end, so expect that there will be delays.

In Bacolod City, public schools and colleges in the city are suspended. Among the schools that made the declaration include the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod (USLS), University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), John B. Lacson Colleges and Foundation (JBLCF), La Consolacion College-Bacolod (LCC), STI-West Negros University, Collegio de San Agustin- Bacolod (CSA-B), and Riverside College.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia reportedly ordered the deployment of two City-owned buses to shuttle commuters.

According to some report, the transport strike in the city will end around 4:00 p.m. with a culmination event at the Fountain of Justice, located outside the old Bacolod City hall.

Frustrated commuters have taken to the web and to give their reactions to the latest transport strike action.

In Cebu City, some of the commuters were delayed because of the transport strike.

The latest transport strike is a part of the Department of transportation’s modernization program.
