Misamis Oriental, Philippines – Photos of the deep sea creature Sunfish or Mola mola that was caught by the fishermen in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental has gone viral.
The strong earthquake, with the magnitude of 6.5 roused residents from sleep in Surigao City, sending hundreds to flee their homes.
A week after the powerful nighttime earthquake that struck the southern Philippines, a number of unusual deep-sea creatures have been caught by local fishermen.
First, a giant oarfish was seen on the shore, which many believed that the oarfish sighting was a warning. A lot of speculation towards this giant creature has been on the rise since the Surigao City was hit by a powerful quake.

The first giant oarfish was caught in Carmen, Agusan del Norte. Then, another was caught in Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro.
The photos have caught the attention of the Pinoy online community. It sparked a speculation among social media people saying the animal somehow knew that disaster was about to happen.
It was then linked to the Japanese folklore that the myth about the oarfish being able to sense the forthcoming earthquake can be possible.
In a recent news, social media is abuzz with the photos of a sunfish or a Mola-mola that were circulated on social media.
The photos were shared by Basta Bisaya Gwapo Ug Gwapa, Magpaliwat Ka? Facebook page. According to the post, the sunfish was caught in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental Mindanao.

The residents immediately brought the fish in the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources office in Balingasag.
Netizens were quick to give their reactions to the viral photos.
Some of the social media users linked the sea creature to speculation that these animals can sense the earthquake.
Other netizens said that the deep sea creature living the sea bottom are more sensitive the to the movements of the active faults that those near of the sea.
