President Duterte’s Approval Required For The Implementation of Additional Amount For SSS Pensioners
The implementation of the P1, 000 additional amount for SSS pensioners were only waiting for the approval of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Social Security System (SSS) is a state-run, social insurance program in the Philippine for Filipino workers. This program covers employees in the private, professional, and even informal sectors. While the government employees were not covered by this agency because they were under the Government Center Insurance System (GSIS).
The agency was established by virtue of Republic Act No. 1161 or known as Social Security Act of 1954. In 1997, this law was adopted by the Republic Act No. 8282.

SSS pensioners were expecting for an additional amount of P1, 000 for their monthly remittance. The additional amount for pensioners was not yet implemented because the agency was still waiting for President Duterte’s order and approval.
SSS spokesperson Susan Bugante explained that they were ready to deposit the additional P1, 000 to the accounts of their pensioners for their monthly pension. However, the agency can’t implement it yet because they need to receive written approval from Malacañang Palace, to have a legal basis to its implementation.
Meanwhile, Deputy Executive Sec. Menardo Guevarra said that Malacañang had already prepared the documents needed for increasing the SSS pensioner’s remittances. The palace also said that President Duterte was about to sign the documents.
