Nowadays, controversial topics circulate abruptly on the social media. Usually, netizens share posts which they find interesting. There are netizens who also spare time to express their reactions on certain matters through comments.
Recently, a video of Thinking Pinoy went viral on the online platform. In the said video which can be found in Thinking Pinoy – TP Facebook page, Thinking Pinoy explained the alleged irregularities of Rappler.
In the viral video, Thinking Pinoy stated that he got a copy of Rappler’s general information, its financial statements from the year 2011 until the year 2015, and its financial statements for its holdings from the year 2014 up to 2015.
According to Thinking Pinoy, he found out that ‘other monetary intermediary’ is the ‘industry classification’ of Rappler. Thinking Pinoy said that the said industry classification is only applicable to money transfer agencies and the like.
“Hindi pera, alam naman natin na hindi financial institution ang Rappler [Not money, we know that Rappler is not a financial institution],” Thinking Pinoy said.
Furthermore, Thinking Pinoy expressed confusion on why Rappler chose the said industry classification as there is a suitable classification for the publications.
Thinking Pinoy also said that there is a part in the general information sheet wherein a company’s description would be asked. He said that Rappler used ‘property development and investment’.
“Paano naman sila naging real estate agent? So si SPO4 Pia Rañada nagbebenta rin ng condo? [How did they become real estate agents? So SPO4 Pia Rañada also sells condominium units?]” Thinking Pinoy questioned in the video.
Thinking Pinoy also asked Chay Hofileña regarding the removal of Pia. “Hindi naman pala kayo media, tindera pala kayo ng condo [You are not media as you are sellers of condo],” Thinking Pinoy said.
Thinking Pinoy also cited that according to the Constitution, media companies should be 100% owned by Filipino people. He said that Rappler proudly reports that they received funding from two ‘foreign entities’.
He said that Rappler made it appear that the million money (which was allegedly from foreign investors as to Thinking Pinoy) was from the Rappler Holdings Corporation.
“Ngayon noong tinira ko naman yung Rappler Holdings Corporation, ang lumitaw naman doon, wala yung 70 million anywhere… Yun yung problema nila ngayon sa SEC,” Thinking Pinoy said.
In the later part of the video, Thinking Pinoy answered questions regarding the matter. The video has already reached around 19 thousand views and 193 shares as of Thursday.
