In a recent news report of Pinoy Viral news, a Singapore-based journalist named Rob O’Brien wrote an article about a domestic Filipina worker.
In his article that can be found at the medium.com, he entitled his touching article with, “Marifel: The Woman Who Left Her Children Behind To Look After Mine.
The heart-touching article of O’Brien tackles about the sacrifices of Filipino domestic workers.

One of the Filipina named as Marifel Mosquera was featured in the article. She chooses to travel far from her home and works as a domestic helper or nannies in hopes of giving her family a better life.
O’Brien wrote in his article that Marifel is only one of the 220,000 workers in Singapore who function as “domestic workers, cleaning, looking after children, the elderly and disabled and performing countless domestic chores.”

O’Brien tells how domestic helpers make sacrifices and on how their employers treat them.
Filipinos are known for being one of the most caring people in the world. Most of the OFW’s are forced to leave the country and work selflessly for the welfare of other people and the country because of poverty.
O’Brien wrote that he was thankful that Marifel came into his family’s life. Because there are helpers who are abusively treated by their employers, and even subject to serious abuse.

According to sources, O’Brien hired Marifel through an agent which hires domestic helpers. He also shared that he was able to witness the first-hand sacrifices of Marifel when he went to the Philippines with her.
He witnessed how hard for Marifel to give up her life with the people she loves to pursue what they need, as a matter of survival.
Furthermore, O’Brien revealed the truth that domestic helpers are needed in first-world countries like Singapore.
