Aguirre Asks DOJ Employees To Help Him Free The Justice Department From Corruption

DOJ Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre II sought the help of the employees in his New Year message.

AGUIRRE – The help of the employees of the Department of Justice in freeing the department from corruption was sought by Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre II in his New Year message.

Pres. Rodrigo Duterte does not only want to end the presence of illegal drugs in the country but as well as the corruption in the government and its agencies.

In fact, based on a previous news report, the 71-year-old Chief Executive has even tagged three government agencies, the Bureau of Internal Revenue, the Bureau of Customs, and the Land Transportation Office, as the ‘most corrupt’ state agencies and eyed to abolish them.

Recently, a news report in Inquirer stated that the Secretary of DOJ, Vitaliano Aguirre II, in obedience to the order of Pres. Duterte, sought the help of the Justice employees to free the department from corruption.

Aguirre has entailed the encouragement in his New Year message. According to the news report, he encouraged the employees to serve the Filipino citizenry with ‘new found dedication and vigor’.

He has also noted in his message that the ‘reform-oriented initiatives’ in the department will be pushed through.

The Justice Secretary vowed that the active role of the DOJ in the approach of the Duterte Administration in abolishing the presence of illegal drugs in the country will be continued.

Furthermore, he expressed that he is one with the people’s prayer and hope for a better country in 2017. “May all our dreams and aspirations for ourselves and for our loved ones be realized,” the Justice Secretary said.

Aguirre, one of Pres. Duterte’s Cabinet member whom he trusts the most according to the news report, assured the people that under his ‘watch’, the anti-crime, anti-corruption, and anti-drug mandate of the DOJ will be pursued.

Based on the report, it was Justice Sec. Aguirre who steered the filing of criminal complaints versus Sen. Leila De Lima for allegedly permitting the proliferation of the drug trade when she was the Secretary of the DOJ.

Sen. De Lima is a staunch critic of Pres. Duterte. The two have exchanged intense statements in the previous months. The lady senator has even received an international award for standing up against Pres. Duterte.

Meanwhile, Pres. Duterte has earlier expressed that Sen. De Lima is in his list of government officials who are alleged protectors of illegal drugs.
