Actor-director Manny Castaneda became the hot trend topic over the social media for his controversial MMFF comment.
Manny Castaneda took to Facebook and posted a controversial remark about the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
In his lengthy Facebook post, Castaneda criticized the box office performance of the so-called indie films in this year’s MMFF.
“The “not so impressive” box office performance of the so-called indie films in this year’s MMFF relative to previous Metro Manila Film Festivals should put the arrogance of some indie fanatics in check,” Castaneda wrote.
The Actor-director said in his Facebook post that he supported Lily Monteverde’s claim that Metro Manila Film Festival is not the appropriate venue for indie films.
“Lily Monterverde of Regal Films who spoke with authority and experience when she insisted that the Metro Manila Film Festival is not the appropriate venue for indie films was right after all,” he wrote.
Castaneda ended his post by advising Mercedes Cabral, an indie actress who lambasted Lily Monteverde and called her an idiot for her controversial comment.
“Mercedes Cabral, an indie starlet who early on has brazenly called Mother Lily an idiot, should make an effort to look at herself in the mirror and see what a real idiot looks like,” Castaneda wrote.
The Pinoy online community was outraged by the lengthy Facebook post of Castaneda on the social media.
Many social media users reacted and give their opinion on the controversial remark of Castaneda about the MMFF.
Other social media users slammed Castaneda for insulting indie films, and giving an offensive opinion in his post.
“Not a hit? It’s hell trying to get tickets by 1 pm! Where are you getting your data? Or bayaran ka din ba ng mainstream media?” netizen said.
“These are the sweat and tears of hardworking actors, directors, writers, etc. we’re talking about. These are people who bleed for their art. You’re an actor and director so you should know better. And your opinion sucks.” netizen commented.
The controversial Facebook post of Castaneda, now has thousands of likes and has been shared by netizens who were not only outraged but were also shocked on how Castaneda put down indie films and insulted Cabral in his comment.
