Duterte To Filipinos: ‘Peace remains as one of my main thrusts in governance’

Pres. Duterte stressed ‘lasting peace’ in his message to the Filipinos this Christmas season.

DUTERTE – Philippine Pres. Rodrigo ‘Digong’ Duterte expressed his Christmas message to the Filipino people. He entailed in his message his vows.

Pres. Duterte, in his message for this Christmas season, said that he will ‘bring food on the table’, create more employment opportunities for the citizenry, and make the Filipino people feel more comfortable and safe according to a news report in Inquirer.

Based on the report, the 71-year-old President expressed that the government is still committed to bringing the Philippines lasting peace which is one of this promises during the election campaign period.

He said that the people in the government are ‘walking the extra mile’ to offer peace to everyone and that peace is still one of the ‘main thrusts’ in the Duterte governance.

Furthermore, it is stated in the news report that the President said that it is on generosity and peace in which the real essence of the Christmas season was founded.

“Our celebration of Christmas is the world’s longest—a testament that we, Filipinos, are a peace-loving nation,” Pres. Duterte said. He added that the Christmas season is also the time for sharing and giving.

In his Christmas message, he emphasized that it is in the faces of the hopeful kids in which the ‘wonderful feeling’ could be seen. The 71-year-old President encouraged the Filipino citizenry to be one with the government in the creation of ‘lasting peace’.

He expressed the hope that the this Christmas will stand as an inspiration in achieving ‘inclusive economic growth’ for the Philippines.

Pres. Duterte secured the highest position in the country through a landslide victory in the 2016 presidential election. He went out as the victor in a presidential race with other four candidates for the presidency.

The 71-year-old former Mayor of Davao City who had served the city for more than two decades led the race with former Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay, Sen. Grace Poe, former Interior Sec. Mar Roxas, and the late former Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

Based on a previous news report, the first Christmas of Pres. Duterte as the chief executive of the nation will be spent by visiting the cancer patients and opening his home to the poor Filipinos in Davao City.

It according to a radio interview with Presidential Communications Sec. Martin Andanar. Furthermore, the report entailed that the President hosted a Christmas event with the secretaries of the Cabinet and the Office of the President before he left the Palace.
