Duterte Express Supports To PRA’s 80 Reclamation Projects Despite Oppositions

President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his support to the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) in implementing more than 80 reclamation projects.

The president allows PRA to implement more than 80 reclamation projects despite the potential opposition from several environmentalists. Solar City communication and business district in Manila Bay was included in the projects to be implemented by PRA, according to PRA Chairman Alberto Agra.

On Wednesday (December 21, 2016), Duterte had already commanded the fast completion of infrastructure projects in the country for progressive growth of Philippine economy under his administration.

Reclamation Projects

The president is prioritizing the economic growth of the country, he also wanted to immediately address the traffic issues in the Philippines. He also aims to develop more communities and to eradicate poverty in the country.

Agra also said that for the next six years more than 80 reclamation projects will be implemented by PRA in various stages including Aklan Beach Zone Restoration and Protection Marina Development Project in Malay, Aklan.

The 108-hectare reclamation venture of the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. in Bacolod City. Mactan North Reclamation, Solar City project in Manila Bay, and the 635.14-hectare Las Piñas-Parañaque Coastal Bay were also included in the 80 reclamation projects.

Reclamation Projects

The PRA chairman also said there will be more projects that will be implemented in Visayas and Mindanao. Agra also noted the last of Duterte as Davao City mayor, where he was to sign a P39-billion port and coastal development project in Davao last June.

The reclamation project would also include the construction of the 3 islands totaling 148 hectares in Manila Bay. This islands can put up several establishments such as tourism facilities, including an international cruise ship terminal and business centers, residential and commercial properties.
