DUTERTE – White House Press Sec. Josh Earnest called the remarks of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte that he personally kills criminals ‘troubling’.

Undeniably, most of the populace knew Pres. Duterte as a man who holds nothing back when it comes to warnings, jokes, remarks, and many more. There were already several instances in the past in which his statements sparked many headlines.

Furthermore, the brave and intense statements usually released by the 71-year-old President could really elicit a lot of reactions from both known and ordinary individuals.

Recently, a news report stated that Pres. Duterte shared to business leaders in a speech that he personally executes criminals way back when he was still the Mayor of Davao City to show to law enforcers that he can make it.

According to the news report, Sens. Leila De Lima and Richard Gordon has even commented on the remarks of the 71-year-old President.

The lady Senator emphasized that Pres. Duterte’s admission could be a ground for impeachment. She told CNN that it is ‘betrayal of public trust’ according to the news report.

Furthermore, the lady Senator expressed that ‘high crimes’ is a ‘ground for impeachment’ and ‘mass’ killings would fall into ‘high crimes’.

Sen. Gordon admitted that the statement did not surprise him anymore. He reacted that the 71-year-old chief executive is opening his doors to chances of being removed from the highest post.

The spokesperson of White House told the news media people that the remarks of the Philippine President are ‘deeply troubling’ and that it goes not in parallel with the stated commitment of the country to the rule of law and the due process.

Furthermore, the White House Press Secretary emphasized on the concern of the United States on the alleged extrajudicial killings happening in the Philippines.

Way back in the previous months, Pres. Duterte has been loud to people who express concern or criticize his administration’s battle against illegal drugs. He has even thrown intense tirades to outgoing U.S. Pres. Barack Obama.

He also expressed his disagreement on the joint military training of the Filipino and the American troops as he justified that he only sees it beneficial to the troops of U.S. only. It, later on, led to rumors regarding the shift of alliance which has remained to be a rumor.

  1. This is nothing compared to Obama’s killing spree wherein he has in his breakfast table everyday a “hit list” of Mid-East people awaiting his approval for (removed)(removed)ination thru Predator-drone launched Hellfire missiles WITHOUT due criminal prosecution process.
