Duterte Included In Forbes’ List Of ‘World’s Most Powerful People’

Pres. Duterte is among those people in Forbes’ Magazine’s list of ‘World’s Most Powerful People’.

DUTERTE – Forbes Magazine has recently released its list of ‘World’s Most Powerful People’ and Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is one of the 74 persons on the list.

Pres. Rodrigo Duterte undeniably holds nothing when it comes to warnings. He has always been vocal on his madness towards illegal drugs.

In the 2016 presidential election, the 71-year-old former Mayor of Davao City has even pledged to clean the country from the presence of illegal drugs in three to six months in case he would secure the post.

After leading the presidential race against four other prominent presidential candidates, he instantly started with one of the prime targets of his administration – to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country.

Drug suspects were then the usual recipients of his warnings. He has also shown several times the thick pile of papers containing the names of drug-suspected individuals. Despite the surprising extent of illegal drugs in the country, the 71-year-old President expressed that there is no turning back.

Aside from his strong warnings to illegal drug users and pushers, another issue that has sparked a lot of headlines are his tirades towards other prominent personalities.

Reportedly, Pres. Duterte has previously thrown strong remarks against United States Pres. Barack Obama. Recently, a news report in Phil Star Global entailed that the Philippine President is one of the people listed in Forbes Magazine’s list of ‘World’s Most Powerful People’.

According to the news report, among the 74 personalities on Forbes’ list, Pres. Duterte landed on the 70th spot. The financial resources managed by the people in the list, their influence, their powers’ extent in multiple spheres and how they utilize it were the basis of the ranking.

The popular magazine cited that the pledge of the Philippine President to put a stop on the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country allowed him to secure the highest post. Furthermore, Forbes emphasized the tendency of the Philippine President to ‘say what he thinks’ which ‘keeps him in the headlines’.

The news report also entailed that Forbes cited Pres. Duterte badmouthing U.S. Pres. Barack Obama and the recent resignation of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo from her Cabinet post.

Pres. Vladimir Putin of Russia retained on being the most powerful person in the world and he’s followed by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. Pope Francis, the chief of the Roman Catholics, landed on the 5th spot.

Recently, based on another news report, the 71-year-old President visited Cambodia where he spoke to a crowd and expressed uncertainty on whether he will still reach the end of his term or not.

The President’s statement undeniably has sparked a lot headlines and elicited many reactions from different people.
