Vice Pres. Robredo did not laugh on the plane crash joke of Pres. Duterte.
ROBREDO – Vice President Leni Robredo admitted that she did not laugh at the plane crash joke of Pres. Rodrigo ‘Digong’ Duterte.
Pres. Duterte and Vice Pres. Robredo came from different political parties. Way back in the 2016 election, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano is the vice president of Pres. Duterte while Mar Roxas is the running mate of Vice Pres. Robredo.
However, the two tried to work together amidst their differences. Pres. Duterte even appointed Vice Pres. Robredo to take a position in his Cabinet.
Yet recently, an unexpected scenario happened. Based on a previous news report, Vice Pres. Robredo resigned from her post in the Cabinet after she received a text message ordering her to “desist from attending all Cabinet meetings”.
She then decided to step down from her post as the chairperson of Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDDC) and took to social media her accomplishments.
Nevertheless, the Vice President assured the people that she will remain in the second-highest position in the country. She said that she will not let anybody ‘steal the vice presidency’ from her.
In a recent news report in Inquirer, it is stated that Vice President Robredo did not find the plane crash joke of Pres. Duterte amusing.
Based on the report, Pres. Duterte jested that Vice Pres. Robredo, to be able to succeed to him, should better pray for his plane to crash.
The widow of the late Interior Sec. Jesse Robredo who lost his life in a plane crash in 2012 emphasized in Filipino at a student’s assembly in Cavite that she is the Vice President and that the opposition only wants their ‘voices to be heard’.
“This does not mean we want something bad to happen to him,” said the Vice President.
According to the report, in a transcript of her remarks sent to media people, she admitted that the President’s remark has offended her.
“I did not laugh at his joke in Bukidnon when he said I was praying for his plane to crash. I lost my husband in a plane crash. That is not a joke,” Vice Pres. Robredo expressed.
The Vice President also expressed that Pres. Duterte ‘needs to be strong’. “We wish that whatever illness he may have, that he overcomes it. He is the one we elected to lead us,” she said.
