DFA: No Filipinos Reported Injured On The 7.3 Magnitude Earthquake Struck Japan
No Filipinos were reported injured in the 7.3 magnitude quake in Fukushima, Japan on Tuesday (November 22, 2016), DFA says.
On Tuesday, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck Japan which was felt and shook the buildings in Tokyo and was center off the coast of Fukushima prefecture at a depth of 10 km. The quake hits the place at 6am this morning.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said that they had not yet received any report of Filipino hurt in the incident. “So far, walang report na may Pilipinong naapektuhan ng lindol sa Japan,” said by DFA spokesperson in a text message quoted by ABS-CBN.
The quake was initially recorded at 7.3 magnitudes but it was downgraded to 6.9 magnitude quake by U.S Geological Survey. Japan is one of the most seismically active areas in the world where it is prone to earthquake. Also, Japan has the stronger earthquake recorded in the history with a magnitude 9.
