Republicans Maintain Majorities In United States Congress

Not only the White House did the Republicans dominate after the elections because even in the two chambers of the United States Congress, they maintain their majorities.

REPUBLICANS RULE – The United States of America (USA) government is now being dominated by Republicans – starting with Donald Trump’s win in the race to the White House, up to the two chambers of the United States Congress.

In a momentous election on Tuesday, November 8, the Republicans now hold the power to reshape Washington.

The party’s victory sets up the “unified government” of USA for a couple of years, which would normally mean a significant change in policy, although the election of Trump was anything but normal.

Republicans rule US Congress
Republicans hold the seat of power in both chambers of the US Congress.

Both the leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives held Trump at arm’s length during the Presidential campaign.

The party’s standard bearer attacked and offended some congressional Republicans, including House Speaker Paul Ryan. But after Trump’s victory, Ryan said in a statement on Wednesday, that they are eager to work hand-in-hand with the new Chief Executive to advance an agenda to improve the lives of the Americans.

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnel said that the election results reveal that the people have chosen a new direction for their country.

The “lame-duck” Congress (meaning the outgoing Congressmen) are returning next week but the new Congress will not convene until January 3, 2017.

By this, the Republicans are set to begin the process of picking leaders for both Congressional chamber.

Cong. Ryan’s post as House speaker could be challenged by his fellow Republicans who helped Trump during the campaign and Ryan is expected to be pushed out by Trump.
