The 45th president of United States Donald Trump was tagged as American Duterte due to the similarity of his style with President Duterte.
Analyst and critics of Trump draw a comparison to his similarity with the style of leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte due to his inflammatory and controversial statements during the campaign. He was a real estate tycoon before he made his way to the White House as the 45th US president.
The noticeable similarity between Trump and Duterte was facing a lot of issues and controversies during the election campaigns but both of them survived and made it to the position. Their promises and statements caught the attention and the sympathy of most of the voters to claim their victory, according to some analyst.
Duterte focused on the platform of having a change in the country by destroying illegal drugs and eradicating the criminality in the Philippines. While, Trump gained most of the votes through his tough immigration and protectionist policies.
