Workers And Manufacturer Under Firecracker Industry To Assist By DOLE In Case Of Firecracker Ban
Firecracker traders and manufacturer will be assisted by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in case total firecracker ban will be imposed.
On Sunday (October 23, 2016), DOLE Undersecretary, Joel Maglunsod announced that they are willing to provide livelihood assistance for the firecracker manufacturers and workers if the total firecracker ban will be imposed by the government nationwide due to the increasing cases of injuries during Christmas and New Year’s season.
Manufacturers and workers under the firecracker industry will be affected by the proposed firecracker ban. “There will be people who will be affected if firecracker use would be regulated, but DOLE can provide assistance,” said by Maglunsod quoted by Philstar.
Facilitating a new employment and providing a livelihood assistance for the affected workers are the primary concern of DOLE, according to Maglunsod. A study about the possible impact on employment from the firecracker ban has been already initiated by the agency.
