P125 Wage Hike Proposal From Labor Sector Rejected By DOLE

DOLE Rejects P125 Wage Hike Proposal

P125 wage hike proposal from the labor sector was rejected by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) because it is beyond their capacity.

Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III confirmed that the amount of the proposed new wage adjustment in their ongoing stakeholder consultations will no longer be used by their regional wage board and the mandatory wage increase can be only implemented by the congress.

On Monday (October 17, 2016), during the Labor Summit organized by DOLE in Quezon City, Bello said that the proposed wage hike amount is no longer their jurisdiction and it needs to undergo a legislative act because it is already beyond their capacity.
