Former Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, the Iron Lady of Asia, has ended her battle with canc3r at the age of 71, her husband Atty. Jun Santiago confirms.
In a report, Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago gave her last breath peacefully on Thursday, 8:52 in the morning, said Atty. Santiago.
The former Senator has been regarded for her high education attained through the years as well as her achievements both locally and internationally.
She served as a senator in the Philippines from 1995 to 2016. She also ran for the last time for the presidency in the May 2016 elections wherein she is already battling with canc3r.
On her long time being a Senator, she has been assigned to different committees which she has been known for her fierceness in implementing law.
