Jacklyn Jose’s ‘Ma Rosa’ Philippines’ Official Entry To The Oscar Awards 2017

The film starred by actress Jacklyn Jose vies for the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 2017 Oscars.

The film ‘Ma Rosa’ of actress Jacklyn Jose was chosen to be the Philippines’ official entry to the Academy or Oscar Awards on 2017.

The film was directed by award-winning filmmaker Brillante Mendoza who was also chosen by President Rodrigo Duterte to direct his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) and other productions of the government.

‘Ma Rosa’ was acclaimed on the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and is one of the nine films who were screened by the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) to choose a movie to be the country’s official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

Other films which were also screened by the FAP’s special committee were “Felix Manalo” of Joel Lamangan, “Anino sa Likod ng Buwan” of Jun Lana, “Honoy Thy Father” of Erik Matti, “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis” by Lav Diaz, “Dukot” by Paul Soriano, “Pamilya Ordinaryo” by Eduardo Roy Jr., “Ang Hapis at Himagsik ni Hermano Puli” by Gil Portes and “Tuos” of Roderick Cabrido.
