Philippine Red Cross Reacts On Fake FB Postings, Text Messages

The Philippine Red Cross clarifies that it did not make Facebook postings or launched a text brigade concerned to security threat.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC)advises the public to be prudent in believing unverified information in connection to the security threat that the Philippines is presumably facing presently.

It also denies launching text brigade or making Facebook and other social media platforms warning the public against going to crowded place because of the security threats.

The threats came after the late September 2 evening blast at the Davao night market which claimed 14 people’s lives and injured more than 60 others.

In an official statement of the Philippine Red Cross released on September 4, Senator Richard J. Gordon, President and Chief Executive Officer of the PRC, clarifies that it did not issue the advisory that is continuing to make round in the social media.

“The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has not sent out text messages (SMS), private messages via Facebook (FB), or other social media platforms warning the public against going to malls due to a security threat”, the statement said.
