The oldest gold artifact in the world was found in Yunatsite, Bulgaria. The artifact is just a tiny gold bead found by Bulgarian archaeologists in Europe. It is (1/8 inch) in diameter and estimated the world’s oldest gold artifact.

In southern Bulgaria at the pre-historic settlement a bead was found. The archaeologists said that it is dated back to 4, 500 – 4, 600 B.C. The previous oldest gold unearthed found in 1972 at Copper Age necropolis in the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Varna. It is said that the gold bead is 200 years older than the jewelry in the city of Varna.

Yavor Boyadzhiev professor at the Bulgarian Academy of Science said “I have no doubt that it is older than Varna gold. He also said that it is only a tiny piece of gold but it’s a really important discovery to find its place in the history.

The first urban settlement in Europe was the modern town in Pazardzhik. They believe that the place where the bead was made and that place is “a highly cultured society” at that time.
