SONA: On The Upshot Of The Duterte Admin

What the State Of The Nation Address or SONA entails will soon be heard by the Filipinos.

SONA – The newly elected President Rodrigo ‘Digong’ Roa Duterte’s administration is indeed one of the most anticipated governance in the history of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

A landslide victory of the former Davao City mayor was a very visible proof of the trust that the Filipino citizenry has bestowed upon the straightforward man – almost 16 million Filipinos held on to his promise of change in the country.

Though previously reported in The Adobo Chronicles on May 30, 2016 that the President is open to the possibility of scraping SONA during his administration, it is evident now that the long-to-be-heard speech of President Duterte is close to reality.

As shared in the previous report, President Digong said that he feels no need of reporting on the state of the nation as he will let the people see it and feel it – truly a man of actions more than words.

Despite the previous possibility on the scraping of the presidential speech and the suspected idea that Filipinos are already tired of listening to great promises which often end in frustrations, still SONA’s vibrations can already be felt.

The very first change that marked in the minds of the Filipino is the promise of the eradication of crime and illegal drugs in the country. Many held on to the 6-month span of fulfilling the prime promise of the newly elected president.

Another thing expected of him is his promotion of peace in the country despite that the man is seen with bravery at all times. Social discipline and family planning are also part of his plan.

Behind his landslide victory lies the goal to implement child-policy in the country, curfews for minors, and as well as curfews on drinking liquors and the structures that operate with it.

President Duterte assumed office last June 30, 2016 and when it comes to actions, the Duterte administration has already made a good start.

The President always speaks with no hesitation whenever he warns illegal drug users and pushers and his words seem to hypnotize them as more and more of them are surrendering to the authorities.

The elimination of the entrance fee in the National Museum is also one thing that could be attributed to the present administration. The P50 – P150 entrance fee is no longer existing and anyone has the privilege to see what the history of the Philippines holds.

One thing that leaves the past in the past is the act of reaching out of President Duterte to newly elected Vice President Leni Robredo – the two came from two opposing parties. It assured the Filipinos that the country is in the hands of two people who will be working together for its good.

The recent most important event in the country that might be included in the President’s SONA is with regards to the result of the arbitration case.

As what has been said in the previous reports about the cabinet meeting done last time, despite the victory, still a thorough investigation and careful decision making would be taken before taking the next step.

There is a chance that SONA will reveal the so-called next step to be taken.

What do you expect from the President Duterte’s SONA?
