Sen. Manny Pacquiao will not have Senate leave return in boxing
Former world boxing champion and now Senator Manny Pacquiao denies the allegations that he will take a Senate leave to prepare for a comeback fight.
Senator Manny Pacquiao recently posted on Facebook a statement pointing out that the recent reports about his comeback into boxing is not true.
The boxing legend turned Senator Pacquiao wrote:
Office of Hon. Emmanuel D. Pacquiao
Senate of the Philippines
Press statementThere is no truth to media reports that I’m planning to take a leave from my senate duties just to fight again atop the ring.
I want to make it clear – my priority is my legislative works.
My next fight has not yet been discussed. Should there be any, I’ll make sure it will not interfere with my senate duties.
When I ran for senator last May 9 elections, I made a promise to be present in all sessions.
I owe it to the people.
If ever I decide to fight again, rest assured, it will happen when congress is on recess so there’s no need for me to go on leave.
The entire training will be done in the Philippines to ensure I can attend sessions even while on training camp.
Boxing is my only means of livelihood to support my family and to help those who are in need.
Politics, to me, is a vocation not a means to eke out a living.
I want to maintain that belief. I want to keep my dignity intact while in public service.
May God continue to guide and bless all our endeavors.
Sen. Manny Pacquiao seems he doesn’t really close doors to boxing. He said that it won’t affect his senatorial duties if ever there is a coming fight.
This becomes inline with the reports wherein Pacquiao promoter, Bob Arum said that Pacquiao is going to fight again in the ring but not sure of the date.
This topic steamed as Arum already said in recent reports that he has already reserved a date in October as well as the venue of an ‘alleged’ comeback.
Pacquiao, however, has already pointed out that after his last fight on April against Timothy Bradley that he will be focusing on his political career and to give more time for his family.
What can you say about Sen. Pacquiao’s statement?
Will he really have a comeback in boxing? How about his legislative duties?
