EU (European Union) cautioned China to respect the international system.
EU warned China to respect the international order after the UN Arbitral Tribunal declared that the result of the case about the West Philippine Sea was in favor in the Philippines.
According to a Report, European Union President Donald Tusk cautioned China on Tuesday, to respect the rule-based international system after the UN Arbitral Tribunal Judgment was furiously rejected by Beijing. UN-backed tribunal in The Hague declared that China has no historic rights to the area.
China’s foreign ministry said on its website, reiterating its territorial claims that “The award is null and void and has no binding force.” The UN Arbitral Tribunal proceeding were not participated by China for they claims which include waters approaching neighboring countries, that are based on a vaguely defined “nine-dash-line” found on a 1940s Chinese map.
But, the award of the UN Arbitral Tribunal constituted by the Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled that the West Philippine Sea are within the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines. The UN Arbitral Tribunal declared that China has no legal basis to claim the historic rights to resources for their “nine-dash line.”
According to a report by Dow Jones, that it has been decided of the The International Tribunal of the Permanent Court of Arbitration under Annex 7 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) that China cannot claim exclusive economic zone in the Spratlys.
EU (European Union) cautioned China to respect the international system as China still asserts sovereignty over almost all of the strategically vital waters in the face of rival claims from its Southeast Asian neighbors.
