In an interview with dzRB radio, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said that it is the privilege of the president if he will appoint Robredo as one of his cabinet members.

“…Prerogative po ng Presidente … kung bibigyan ang Bise Presidente ng Cabinet post,” he was quoted by GMA News.

In previous interviews, Duterte is non-committal about giving Vice President Robredo a cabinet position.

While his camp earlier said that the president is open to giving her a position, President Duterte said that giving the Vice President a cabinet post never crossed his mind.

He also said that one of the reasons why he was hesitant to give Robredo a position is because he will hurt the feelings of his close friend Senator “Bongbong” Marcos.

The former Camires Sur representative won the Vice Presidential race with more than 200,000 votes ahead of her closest rival Senator Marcos.

On Saturday, Vice President Leni Robredo said that she is no longer expecting a cabinet post from Chief Executive, hinting that she might not need a position to push her pro-poor advocacy.

The country’s highest officials had a separate inauguration last June 30. They only met for the first time on July 1 during the change of command of the military leadership.

According to Andanar, they looked “very warm” towards each other from what they have seen from the photos.
