Veteran TV-5 host and broadcaster Martin Andanar the incoming Presidential Commuications Operations Office (PCOO) head confirmed during an interview that no media would be allowed to enter the Rizal Hall in Malacañang to cover the Duterte inauguration this coming June 30. Sec. Martin Andanar clarified that only the state-run TV station People’s Television (PTV-4) and Radio TV Malacañang are allowed to cover the historic event.
Sec. Andanar noted during an interview with the media that the Rizal Hall in Malacañang could only accommodate around 500 guests, those guests who were invited includes foreign diplomats and lawmakers. Mayor Duterte’s closest aide on his part revealed during an interview earlier that the President invited a total of 150 guests only during his inauguration.
In order to cover the inauguration event of the first ever President from Mindanao, journalists could cover the event outside the Rizal Hall in a work station intended for journalists and other TV stations. The media center for national and international journalists who wants to cover the event could use the New Executive Building. All media outfits local or international would rely only on PTV4 and RTVM for their live videos.
In an earlier interview with the media, President Rody Duterte revealed that he wanted a simple inauguration as part of his administration’s austerity measures and he will take his oath of office as President before schoolmate and fraternity brother, Supreme Court Associate Justice Bienvenido Reyes.
The camp of Mayor Duterte also noted that foods who will be served during the highly anticipated Duterte Inauguration are considered finger foods. The finger foods which will be served during the inauguration includes maruya and buko juice. The measures is part of the Davao City mayor’s promised that he will serve simple foods to the guests to save money for the national government.
President Duterte noted during various interviews that he will not allow Filipinos to suffer during his inauguration by celebrating it on a larger venue which often leads to traffic problems and one of the reasons why he wants a simple celebration is because he used to that kind of lifestyle. No more lavish inauguration according to Duterte’s camp as part of the country’s austerity measures.
