Goodbye Luxury Cars, Only Avanza Under Duterte Admin
President Rody Duterte wants his administration to be known simply as the Cabinet members will practice austerity. The incoming President will get rid of luxury vehicles as he specifies that Cabinet members can only use Toyoto Avanza as service vehicle.
Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez reveals to the media during an interview with Inquirer that Pres. Duterte wants Avanza because its the cheapest. The statement of Duterte to use only Avanza as service vehicles of all Cabinet members will show more respect to Duterte admin.
When one of the media asks Alvarez if he is willing to comply with the incoming President’s request he said that he will invoke separation of powers. Rep. Alvarez clarifies further that he will use his usual pickup service because he feels comfortable while cruising the countryside and he can drive sometime.
Pres. Duterte wants his Cabinet to live frugally, directing his appointees to avoid business class plane tickets, forget about using public funds for junkets, or abstain from using expensive cars.
The incoming president also plans to reveal how frugal his administration by showing it on the very first day he assumes the presidency this coming June 30, 2016.
The former Davao City Mayor will take his oath of office as the President of the Republic of the Philippines in Malacañang, deviating from the tradition for Presidents at Quirino Grandstand in Manila’s Rizal Park.
During the previous administrations, the country’s leaders took their oath of Office in different venues, the late Pres. Corazon Aquino at Club Filipino, Pres. Fidel Ramos, Pres. Estrada, Pres. Arroyo and Pres. Aquino III took their oaths at Quirino Grandstand or in Luneta Park.
