NCRPO to Deploy 18,000 PNP Personnel During Classes Opening

The National Capita Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced during the press briefing that a total of 18,000 PNP personnel will be deployed this coming Monday, June 13, 2016 to provide security in the opening of classes for the Academic Year 2016-2017. The PNP expects some 2.6 million students going to school so the PNP raised their status to full alert.

According to NCRPO Public Information Office Chief P/CInsp. Kimberly Molitas says that the PNP will prioritize security around various schools in Metro Manila and they will install police assistance desk in bus terminals, public areas and around the University belt in the heart of Manila.

The NCRPO also noted that they will not limit the task of the police authorities to be deployed during the opening of classes but they will tap the service of local government units to man the assistance desks under the supervision of the PNP.

Aside from the PNP uniformed members, personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will also help in managing the traffic while the office of the civil defense will assist in cases of typhoon and heavy downpours.

“We anticipate that the weather would be unlikely on the opening of classes so we are planning the operation of OCD and the MMDA as well as our troops as to which aspect each one could help,” Molitas said.

The assigned NCRPO Personnel is also calling the attentions of students and parents not to fight back should they be victimized by lawless elements of the community, instead, they should remember the face of the attacker and report it to the police authorities assigned in various areas right away.
